Laws § 21-28.1-2","heading":"Powers and duties.","body":"Narcotic guidance councils shall develop a program of community participation regarding control of the use of narcotics at the local level. These councils shall direct themselves toward accomplishing the following:\n(1) Make immediately available to the community, basic knowledge acquired in the field of drug use especially by youth;\n(2) Create a climate in which persons seeking assistance in coping with narcotics problems can meet, without embarrassment, with responsible individuals or agencies in a position to render assistance;\n(3) Authorize persons approved by the council to contact and counsel persons within the community suspected of using narcotics or those persons allegedly having knowledge of that usage; and\n(4) Cooperate with other narcotic guidance councils and with the state, and federal narcotics commissions and agencies in bringing local and community trouble areas to their attention.","path":["Title 21 Food and Drugs","Chapter 28.1 Narcotic Guidance Council"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE21/21-28.1/21-28.1-2.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:27Z","sha256":"aa727311436358a81f5e8a5102bc50b4b8b6f29f75cfb4e41c677f1985452763","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-21-28.1-1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-21-28.1-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
