Laws § 23-1.7-7","heading":"Education and outreach regarding brain health and dementia.","body":"(a) The department of health, in consultation with the advisory council created pursuant to § 23-1.7-2, shall incorporate information about brain health, dementia risk factors and risk reduction, Alzheimer’s disease, and other dementias into existing public health outreach programs to:\n(1) Increase public understanding and awareness of:\n(i) Brain health and dementia risk reduction;\n(ii) Early warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias;\n(iii) The value of early detection and timely diagnosis; and\n(iv) The relationship between Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other chronic health conditions.\n(2) Ensure public awareness and outreach programs:\n(i) Provide clear, uniform guidance in nonclinical terms; and\n(ii) Prioritize populations at greater risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.\n(b) The department of health, in consultation with the advisory council created pursuant to § 23-1.7-2, shall incorporate information about brain health, dementia risk factors and risk reduction, Alzheimer’s disease, and other dementias into existing healthcare provider education and outreach programs to educate providers regarding:\n(1) The importance of risk reduction, early detection, and timely diagnosis of cognitive impairment and dementia;\n(2) Validated assessment tools for the detection and diagnosis of cognitive impairment;\n(3) The value of validated cognitive assessment tools during Medicare annual wellness visits; and\n(4) Medicare care planning billing codes for individuals with cognitive impairment, provision of effective care planning, and available treatments.","path":["Title 23 Health and Safety","Chapter 1.7 Rhode Island Program to Address Alzheimer’s Disease"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE23/23-1.7/23-1.7-7.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:36Z","sha256":"eef2b4441ffb668d2b0f2afa0768dab87b6933f5718e945bad1ec23070d012b2","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-1.7-6","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-1.8-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
