Laws § 23-101-9","heading":"Professions covered.","body":"The protections afforded by the provisions of this chapter for providing gender-affirming healthcare services, legally protected healthcare activity, and reproductive healthcare services, shall apply to the following healthcare providers:\n(1) A qualified physician licensed pursuant to chapters 37 and 37.3 of title 5;\n(2) A qualified osteopathic physician licensed pursuant to chapter 37 of title 5;\n(3) A qualified physician assistant licensed pursuant to chapter 54 of title 5;\n(4) A genetic counselor licensed pursuant to chapter 92 of title 5;\n(5) A qualified psychologist licensed pursuant to chapter 44 of title 5;\n(6) A qualified social worker licensed pursuant to chapter 39.1 of title 5;\n(7) An advanced practice registered nurse, and a certified nurse practitioner, licensed pursuant to chapter 34 of title 5, and a certified registered nurse anesthetist licensed pursuant to chapters 34 and 34.2 of title 5;\n(8) A certified nurse midwife licensed pursuant to chapter 13 of this title;\n(9) A licensed clinical mental health counselor or associate, and a licensed marriage and family therapist or associate, licensed pursuant to chapter 63.2 of title 5;\n(10) An electrologist licensed pursuant to chapter 32 of title 5;\n(11) A speech-language pathologist licensed pursuant to chapter 48 of title 5;\n(12) An occupational therapist licensed pursuant to chapter 40.1 of title 5;\n(13) A chiropractic physician licensed pursuant to chapter 30 of title 5; and\n(14) A pharmacist engaging in the practice of pharmacy and licensed pursuant to chapter 19.1 of title 5.","path":["Title 23 Health and Safety","Chapter 101 Healthcare Provider Shield"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE23/23-101/23-101-9.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:57:12Z","sha256":"f5b75ae17d8589053798421ee501cfeb09a777ee7a878670464d97ae36c19711","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-101-8","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-102-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
