Laws § 23-13.8-3","heading":"Licensure requirements.","body":"(a) No individual shall practice unless the individual is licensed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.\n(b) A licensed lactation counselor shall provide lactation counseling services within the scope of practice in the performance of the counselor’s duties.\n(c) A licensed lactation counselor is authorized to supervise the following individuals:\n(1) Licensed lactation counselor;\n(2) Students, interns, or individuals preparing for practice as a lactation counselor;\n(3) Care extenders and other team members as appropriate; and\n(4) Volunteers.\n(d) A licensed lactation counselor shall not delegate any of their duties or responsibilities to any individual under their supervision who is not a licensed lactation counselor.","path":["Title 23 Health and Safety","Chapter 13.8 Lactation Counselors Practice Act of 2024"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE23/23-13.8/23-13.8-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:42Z","sha256":"d5b01b1a8ba4ecc22a2c29e1dbd2d20052e42fbc496817dd799a72229b062796","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-13.8-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-13.8-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
