Laws § 23-17.15-1","heading":"Legislative findings.","body":"It is found and declared as follows:\n(1) Rhode Island has a very high percentage of elderly persons, and the percentage of elderly persons is expected to increase.\n(2) Rhode Island elderly and disabled persons desire access to the complete range of long-term care services.\n(3) Coordination among existing long-term care programs needs continued improvement.\n(4) Rhode Island needs to adopt goals and values for public policy regarding long-term care such as those stated in the “Long-Term Care Plan for Rhode Island 1995-2000” as prepared by the long-term care coordinating council, pursuant to chapter 20 of title 40.\n(5) The citizens of Rhode Island deserve a long-term care system that:\n(i) Is consumer-driven and includes consumers in long-term care policy development; and\n(ii) Is seamless, with coordinated funding and administration; and\n(iii) Encourages consumer rights, information, choice, quality of care, safety, and quality of life; and\n(iv) Accommodates the preferences of consumers, most of whom choose to remain independent and in their own homes and the community for as long as possible; and\n(v) Offers a balanced array of services that are cost-effective and meet consumers’ needs.","path":["Title 23 Health and Safety","Chapter 17.15 Long-Term Health Care Goals and Values"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE23/23-17.15/23-17.15-1.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:47Z","sha256":"40354caa39b37033b7d54a6f8e0f4a9ac785b809ec7252bc3e360c38b5db31b6","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-17.14-36","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-17.15-2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
