Laws § 23-19.1-2","heading":"Legislative findings.","body":"The general assembly recognizes and declares that:\n(1) Continuing technological progress, increases in the amounts of manufacture, and the abatement of air and water pollution have resulted in ever-increasing quantities of hazardous wastes;\n(2) The environment and the public health and safety are threatened where hazardous wastes are not managed in an environmentally sound manner;\n(3) Any threat to the environment from the effects of the improper, inadequate, or unsound management of hazardous wastes also poses a threat to the public health and safety, since hazardous wastes that enter the environment may be carried by water, land, or air to human beings;\n(4) The long term health effects of hazardous wastes are uncertain; and\n(5) The problem of managing hazardous wastes has become a matter of statewide concern, but actions taken up to this time fall short of necessary regulation of hazardous waste management.","path":["Title 23 Health and Safety","Chapter 19.1 Hazardous Waste Management"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE23/23-19.1/23-19.1-2.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:52Z","sha256":"860bd5d6998480e6b1c1a248339cee711a8245114b4b0abff196d74af1302cdf","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-19.1-1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-19.1-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
