Laws § 23-19.14-2","heading":"Declaration of policy.","body":"It shall be the policy of this state to assure that:\n(1) Activities are taken to control and eliminate contamination at industrial properties that are fair, consistent, and compatible with the current and reasonably foreseeable future use of the property;\n(2) Environmental barriers to economic redevelopment and beneficial reuse of contaminated properties are removed;\n(3) Opportunities are available for businesses to realistically manage their environmental liabilities;\n(4) Voluntary and cooperative clean-up actions are encouraged to the greatest extent possible; and\n(5) Processes for environmental clean-up and liability relief are effective and efficient and minimize transaction costs to the extent reasonably feasible in order to facilitate appropriate reuse of contaminated properties.","path":["Title 23 Health and Safety","Chapter 19.14 Industrial Property Remediation and Reuse Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE23/23-19.14/23-19.14-2.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:54Z","sha256":"ef632d5f475bc41fe2af125a1a76927efb7327e1811fd16142530d0d6e0c6c74","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-19.14-1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-23-19.14-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
