Laws § 27-2.8-3","heading":"Requirements for sale of self-service storage insurance.","body":"(a) At every location where self-service storage insurance is offered to occupants, brochures or other written or electronic materials must be made available that:\n(1) Disclose that self-service storage insurance may provide a duplication of coverage already provided by a homeowner’s insurance policy, renter’s insurance policy, or other source of coverage;\n(2) State that the enrollment in the self-service storage insurance program offered by the owner is not required in order to lease storage space at the self-service storage facility;\n(3) Provide the actual terms of the insurance coverage, or summarize the material terms of the insurance coverage, including:\n(i) The identity of the insurer;\n(ii) The identity of the supervising entity;\n(iii) The amount of any applicable deductible and how it is to be paid;\n(iv) Benefits of the coverage; and\n(v) Key terms and conditions of coverage;\n(4) Summarize the process for filing a claim; and\n(5) State that an occupant may cancel enrollment for self-service storage insurance coverage at any time and the person paying the premium shall receive a refund of any applicable unearned premium.\n(b) Self-service storage insurance may be provided under a commercial, corporate, group, or master policy.","path":["Title 27 Insurance","Chapter 2.8 Self-Service Storage Insurance"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE27/27-2.8/27-2.8-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:57:20Z","sha256":"21dcff5d056a8aec25fc2ed24349452a41afb2759e1fc4ba71d02a6d2113451f","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-27-2.8-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-27-2.8-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
