Laws § 27-25-41","heading":"Payment of benefits other than insurance benefits.","body":"(a) A society may pay benefits, other than insurance benefits, to its members from any special account or fund maintained for that purpose; provided, that if the benefits are of a nature that they could constitute benefits within the class of insurance set forth in this chapter, a society making the payments may not:\n(1) Make any separate charge for the payments;\n(2) Issue any certificate, policy, or other document promising the payments;\n(3) Provide in its constitution, laws, or any other document that the payments may be received by the member as a matter of right; or\n(4) Advertise the payments as insurance or as payments to which the member has any right.\n(b) The society shall maintain a separate accounting of all disbursements made under this section and report them in its annual statement.","path":["Title 27 Insurance","Chapter 25 Rhode Island Fraternal Code"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE27/27-25/27-25-41.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:57:37Z","sha256":"5a8fd5b4e5681f80e7d47b31bf635c6e8b333f38b95dea686ab320acc73d4142","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-27-25-40","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-27-25-42"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
