Laws § 28-42-14","heading":"Employees of governmental entities.","body":"For the purposes of §§ 28-42-13 and 28-42-13.1, “employment” does not include services performed in the employ of a “governmental entity” as defined in § 28-42-3(22) by an individual in the exercise of duties:\n(1) As an elected official;\n(2) As a member of a legislative body, or a member of the judiciary of a state or political subdivision;\n(3) As a member of the national guard or air national guard;\n(4) As an employee serving on a temporary basis in case of fire, storm, snow, earthquake, flood, or similar emergency; or\n(5) In a position which, under or pursuant to the laws of this state, is designated as a:\n(i) Major non-tenure policymaking or advisory position; or\n(ii) Policymaking or advisory position, the performance of the duties of which ordinarily does not require more than eight (8) hours per week.","path":["Title 28 Labor and Labor Relations","Chapter 42 Employment Security — General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE28/28-42/28-42-14.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:01Z","sha256":"64317658881f30014e5f66174f145ea64303b5db95efaa06097a0ec7dedbc1ce","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-28-42-13.1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-28-42-14.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
