Laws § 28-48-12","heading":"School involvement leave.","body":"(a) An employee who has been employed by the same employer for twelve (12) consecutive months shall be entitled to a total of ten (10) hours of leave during any twelve-month (12) period to attend school conferences or other school-related activities for a child of whom the employee is the parent, foster parent, or guardian.\n(b) The employee must provide twenty-four (24) hours’ prior notice of the leave and make a reasonable effort to schedule the leave so as not to unduly disrupt the operations of the employer.\n(c) Nothing in this section shall be construed to require the leave be paid; except that under this section, an employee may substitute any accrued paid vacation leave or other appropriate paid leave for any part of the leave.","path":["Title 28 Labor and Labor Relations","Chapter 48 Rhode Island Parental and Family Medical Leave Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE28/28-48/28-48-12.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:04Z","sha256":"9a96dc5d364d4c00a6949166d58417cec5437bc663d8e699c1803dd1320ac437","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-28-48-11","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-28-49-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
