Laws § 29-3.1-1.1","heading":"Definitions.","body":"For the purposes of this chapter, unless otherwise indicated by the context, the following words and terms shall have the following meanings:\n(1) “Interlibrary cooperation” means two (2) or more independent libraries working together to achieve a common purpose;\n(2) “Public library” means a library in a city or town that has been designated by the city or town council or town financial meeting as a library to provide library services to all individuals residing in the city or town;\n(3) “Public library development” means the activities undertaken to strengthen, improve, or initiate library services that are provided by a public library; and\n(4) “Resource sharing” means the sharing of library materials, the creation and maintenance of a statewide library catalog, providing statewide access to databases and/or staff expertise between two (2) or more libraries.","path":["Title 29 Libraries","Chapter 3.1 Office of Library and Information Services"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE29/29-3.1/29-3.1-1.1.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:05Z","sha256":"bd7c6bdcb815c1cb912b7ef83f4c339bc3833936ad0217c0c04cf42c701117da","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-29-3.1-1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-29-3.1-2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
