Laws § 31-1-28","heading":"Types of traffic control devices.","body":"(a) “Official traffic control devices” means all signs, signals, markings, and devices not inconsistent with chapters 1 — 27 of this title placed or erected by authority of a public body or official having jurisdiction, for the purpose of regulating, warning, or guiding traffic.\n(b) “Railroad sign or signal” means any sign, signal, or device erected by authority of a public body or official or by a railroad and intended to give notice of the presence of railroad tracks or the approach of a railroad train.\n(c) “Traffic control signs” means any device, whether manually, electrically, or mechanically operated, by which traffic is alternately directed to stop and to proceed.","path":["Title 31 Motor and Other Vehicles","Chapter 1 Definitions and General Code Provisions"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE31/31-1/31-1-28.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:13Z","sha256":"a2992c0946025accb5bcdb444b860245284ed4adb386ad24fdea97634be08e1a","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-1-27","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-1-29"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
