Laws § 31-1-3.1","heading":"Autocycles.","body":"(a) “Autocycle” means only those motor vehicles that:\n(1) Do not have more than three (3) wheels in contact with the ground;\n(2) Are designed to be controlled with a steering wheel and foot pedals for acceleration, braking, or shifting;\n(3) Are equipped with seating that does not require occupants to straddle or sit astride the seating; and\n(4) Are manufactured and certified to comply with federal safety requirements for a motorcycle.\n(b) Except as otherwise provided in this title, an “autocycle” shall be considered to be a “motorcycle” as defined in § 31-1-3.","path":["Title 31 Motor and Other Vehicles","Chapter 1 Definitions and General Code Provisions"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE31/31-1/31-1-3.1.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:12Z","sha256":"2a004f47c672c2b4d2d4de98aaed9170eeab49a6626b6f51dc43f23d4b0d4a80","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-1-3","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-1-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
