Laws § 31-11-16","heading":"Unlawful use of license.","body":"It is a civil violation for any person:\n(1) To display, or cause or permit to be displayed, or have in his or her possession any cancelled, revoked, suspended, fictitious, or fraudulently altered operator’s or chauffeur’s license;\n(2) To lend his or her operator’s or chauffeur’s license to any other person or knowingly permit the use of it by another;\n(3) To display or represent as one’s own any operator’s or chauffeur’s license not issued to him or her;\n(4) To fail or refuse to surrender to the division of motor vehicles upon its lawful demand any operator’s or chauffeur’s license which has been suspended, revoked, or cancelled;\n(5) To use a false or fictitious name in any application for an operator’s or chauffeur’s license or to knowingly make a false statement or to knowingly conceal a material fact or otherwise commit a fraud in any such application;\n(6) To permit any unlawful use of an operator’s or chauffeur’s license issued to him or her; or\n(7) To do any act forbidden or fail to perform any act required by this title.","path":["Title 31 Motor and Other Vehicles","Chapter 11 Suspension or Revocation of Licenses — Violations"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE31/31-11/31-11-16.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:19Z","sha256":"0a29cb3c8ea942ec78ea0346d20f936c291b4673cc5c42b80d3810280911812b","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-11-15","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-11-17"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
