Laws § 31-22-22.1","heading":"Child passenger protection — Warnings of hazard and risk.","body":"(a) All law enforcement officers in this state are authorized to provide a verbal warning to any person who shall be deemed to have left a child under the age of seven (7) unattended in a motor vehicle. The warning shall apprise the offending person of the dangers of this practice including, but not limited to, the risk of kidnapping and/or abduction, and the dangers which may result from the accumulation of excessive temperatures within the motor vehicle.\n(b) No fine or sanction shall be imposed for a violation of this section, other than a verbal warning, and no record of any kind shall be maintained of the warning.","path":["Title 31 Motor and Other Vehicles","Chapter 22 Miscellaneous Rules"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE31/31-22/31-22-22.1.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:23Z","sha256":"ef454d8b544f286df23c8ace19445626a0800bc502c08167225005fc07677f56","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-22-22","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-22-23"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
