Laws § 31-23.2-10","heading":"Division of motor vehicles — Odometer inspection.","body":"(a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of the general laws, the division of motor vehicles shall require the inspection by a member of a city or town police department, of the odometer of every motor vehicle purchased from a seller from outside the state of Rhode Island, prior to issuing a certificate of title in accordance with the provisions of § 31-23.2-6.\n(b) For each vehicle inspected, the local police department may collect a fee of ten dollars ($10.00).\n(c) In the town of Exeter, the town sergeant, or designees, who shall also be employees of the Exeter town sergeant’s office, are authorized to conduct the inspection required by this section.","path":["Title 31 Motor and Other Vehicles","Chapter 23.2 Tampering with Odometers"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE31/31-23.2/31-23.2-10.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:24Z","sha256":"1041c456e23f3e525c9435ce164e490db06b30821b968d76184d669ca5ca7718","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-23.2-9","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-23.2-11"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
