Laws § 31-38-10","heading":"Grounds for denial, suspension, or revocation of permit.","body":"The director may deny an application for a permit or suspend or revoke a permit after it has been granted for any of the following reasons:\n(1) On proof of unfitness of the applicant to do business as a motor vehicle inspection station;\n(2) For any misstatement by the applicant in the application for the permit;\n(3) For any failure to comply with the provisions of this section or with any rule or regulation promulgated by the director of the department of revenue;\n(4) For defrauding any customer;\n(5) For dismantling any vehicle for repair without the authorization of the owner;\n(6) For refusal to surrender any vehicle to its owner upon tender of payment of the proper charges for towing and/or work done on the vehicle;\n(7) For having indulged in any unconscionable practice relating to the business as a motor vehicle inspection station;\n(8) For willful failure to perform work as contracted for;\n(9) For failure to comply with the safety standards of the industry;\n(10) For failure to properly equip and/or conduct the inspection station;\n(11) For failure to pay the required fees as provided in this chapter;\n(12) For providing an inspection sticker to a motor vehicle which is equipped with a sunscreening device which does not comply with the provisions of chapter 23.3 of this title.","path":["Title 31 Motor and Other Vehicles","Chapter 38 Inspection of Motor Vehicles"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE31/31-38/31-38-10.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:28Z","sha256":"843d1700c170b5409789ddea0be32b169152dfd02c911a98da912c3ad788ae5e","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-38-9","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-38-11"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
