Laws § 31-47.3-1.1","heading":"Purpose.","body":"This act shall be known and may be cited as “An Act Concerning Government Responsibility To Protect Public Health From Diesel Pollution.” The general purposes of this act are to:\n(1) Minimize human exposure to and health risks from diesel pollution;\n(2) Reduce health costs, missed school days, lost worker productivity and premature mortality linked to exposure to the diesel particulate matter (PM) and other diesel pollutants;\n(3) Achieve maximum feasible diesel particulate matter emissions reductions and diminished human exposure that is additional to the impact of federal diesel emission rules, which focus mostly on new engines;\n(4) Advance the state’s climate protection goals and climate action plan by reducing the amount of black carbon pollution emitted by diesels; and\n(5) Achieve health benefits for Rhode Island by ensuring state contracting and leasing takes advantage of retrofits that are occurring in the marketplace.","path":["Title 31 Motor and Other Vehicles","Chapter 47.3 The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE31/31-47.3/31-47.3-1.1.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:58:31Z","sha256":"d2cce9f22a5dc2b219be9a1d33926f49cb6085aedd1450da73c82dea8ac14a2e","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-47.3-1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-31-47.3-2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
