Laws § 39-13-11","heading":"Registration and licensing of vehicles and operators — CPR training requirement.","body":"(a) Upon the granting of a certificate of public convenience and necessity as provided in this chapter, the division of motor vehicles shall have jurisdiction over the registration of any jitney and over the licensing of its operator and its lighting, safety, and sanitary conditions.\n(b) Effective January 1, 1986, no new license shall be issued to a jitney operator unless he or she has presented evidence of satisfactory completion of a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training program. The program is to be approved by the American Heart Association, Rhode Island Affiliate, Inc., or the American Red Cross Association, Inc.; provided, however, that any person licensed as a jitney operator prior to January 1, 1986, shall not be required to complete the training program.\n(c) This section shall not apply to operators of “taxicabs” or “limited public motor vehicles” as defined in chapter 14 of this title.","path":["Title 39 Public Utilities and Carriers","Chapter 13 Motor Passenger Carriers"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE39/39-13/39-13-11.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:59:17Z","sha256":"f66a044f45eed52593adacdcfb8953920b680e70c8d08fdcbd71fb22024b56d1","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-39-13-10","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-39-13-12"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
