Laws § 39-2-18","heading":"Shutoff devices for gas appliances.","body":"No person, firm, corporation, or other business entity shall install in any home or business establishment any appliance that operates by the use of consumption of a combustible gas unless a shutoff device approved by the division of public utilities and carriers controlling the flow of gas into the appliances is also installed in the immediate area of the appliance; and, provided, further, that any person, firm, corporation, or other business entity that removes a valve or leaves a gas line without the shutoff device shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be subject to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100).","path":["Title 39 Public Utilities and Carriers","Chapter 2 Duties of Utilities and Carriers"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE39/39-2/39-2-18.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:59:13Z","sha256":"7433e0f7e7cf185d7db080b7b4e14b2849c161275bb68633376d258fe60e41a1","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-39-2-16-39-2-17","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-39-2-19"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
