Laws § 39-20-5","heading":"Regulation of foreign electric utilities.","body":"(a) A foreign electric utility, in order to procure a certificate of authority to transact business in this state pursuant to this chapter, shall make application therefor to the secretary of state pursuant to the provisions of §§ 7-1.2-1405 and 7-1.2-1406 and shall be subject to §§ 7-1.2-1403 — 7-1.2-1418, 7-1.2-1501 and 7-1.2-1601 — 7-1.2-1604.\n(b) A foreign public utility that has received a certificate of authority to transact business in this state pursuant to this chapter:\n(1) Shall, before owning or operating an electric-generating facility in this state, notify the commission of the action to be taken by it;\n(2) Shall thereafter furnish to the commission annually a copy of the annual report filed by it with the utility regulatory agency of the state of its domicile or principal locus; and\n(3) Shall furnish to the commission, from time to time, such other information with respect to its activities in the state as the commission may reasonably request.","path":["Title 39 Public Utilities and Carriers","Chapter 20 Ownership of Electric-Generating Facilities"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE39/39-20/39-20-5.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:59:20Z","sha256":"0c7f75e574590ea8cdf555dccc31fe2f0629b984603573bd355781d7148cabb5","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-39-20-4","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-39-20-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
