Laws § 40-8.7-8","heading":"Work-related protections.","body":"(a) Medicaid buy-in participants shall continue on the Medicaid buy-in program for up to four (4) months after loss of employment due to a medical condition. If the loss of employment is not due to a medical condition, the individual may continue to be eligible for up to four (4) months, but must pay a monthly premium equal to their monthly-unearned income in excess of the medically needy income limit.\n(b) Medicaid buy-in participants who return to other Medicaid eligibility categories shall have their accrued savings in a retirement account and/or a medical savings account excluded from countable assets.\n(c) The department shall promulgate rules or regulations necessary to institute the work-related protections of this section.","path":["Title 40 Human Services","Chapter 8.7 Healthcare Assistance for Working People with Disabilities"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE40/40-8.7/40-8.7-8.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:59:27Z","sha256":"fad8fa174e09cea0f8973ca9eaceae345fd6b9e6533b56b9f2ce025a8b66916b","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-40-8.7-7","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-40-8.7-9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
