Laws § 42-119-3","heading":"Areas of responsibility.","body":"The commission has the following responsibilities:\n(1) Advise and submit recommendations to the governor and the general assembly on issues relating to women;\n(2) Gather and disseminate information to women and/or the general public on issues relating to women;\n(3) Develop and/or support programs and services for women consistent with the purpose of the commission;\n(4) Collaborate and/or partner with concerned organizations, groups, and state departments on issues of common concern;\n(5) Educate and encourage women to exercise the right to vote, encourage candidacy for public office and promote appointment of qualified women to boards, commissions, and government positions at all levels;\n(6) Evaluate, monitor, and propose federal and state legislation and advise legislators on issues relating to women; and\n(7) Advocate for women’s equity in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.","path":["Title 42 State Affairs and Government","Chapter 119 Rhode Island Commission on Women and Girls"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE42/42-119/42-119-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:00:09Z","sha256":"da91cfac3b024c2e410c2b433cde0aef2e63b608b63be26456bfac892bf4c00e","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-119-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-119-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
