Laws § 42-127.1-3","heading":"Scope.","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), this chapter applies to electronic records and electronic signatures relating to a transaction.\n(b) This chapter does not apply to a transaction to the extent it is governed by:\n(1) A law governing the creation and execution of wills, codicils, or testamentary trusts; or\n(2) Title 6A other than §§ 6A-1-107 and 6A-1-206, chapter 2 of title 6A, and chapter 2.1 of title 6A;\n(c) This chapter applies to an electronic record or electronic signature otherwise excluded from the application of this chapter under subsection (b) to the extent it is governed by a law other than those specified in subsection (b).\n(d) A transaction subject to this chapter is also subject to other applicable substantive law.","path":["Title 42 State Affairs and Government","Chapter 127.1 Uniform Electronic Transactions Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE42/42-127.1/42-127.1-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:00:10Z","sha256":"e7fec041d723f30d7284693af7fb3a3d030f232e01b678c0bca67e90f0b8cfa1","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-127.1-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-127.1-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
