Laws § 42-140.5-3","heading":"Identification of eligible sites.","body":"(a) The office, in coordination with the department, shall prepare a list of locations that meet the following criteria:\n(1) Is a current or former contaminated site as determined by the department;\n(2) Is property or a facility owned and/or managed by the state;\n(3) Is a rooftop of a public, municipal, or state-owned building;\n(4) Is state property adjacent to a highway or major road; or\n(5) Is owned by the electric distribution company and subject to the environmental response fund.\n(b) The list shall exclude properties where the owner has begun the process of permitting or developing a renewable energy generation project or any other development.\n(c) The list shall:\n(1) Include a reasonable estimate of the renewable energy production capacity of the locations;\n(2) Identify the current owner of the property and provide their contact information, if available;\n(3) Include a reasonable estimate of any utility interconnection costs that would be required to connect the project to the existing electricity transmission and distribution system; provided that:\n(i) Any available impact study shall be conclusive evidence of estimated costs;\n(ii) Any variables that the office or department relied upon in the creation of the estimate shall be included and described;\n(iii) The electric distribution company shall provide estimated interconnection costs to the office as sites are identified;\n(iv) The cost of an interconnection study shall not be included in the estimation of interconnection costs; and\n(4) Prioritize locations based upon surrounding infrastructure that can support the development of distributed generation resources.","path":["Title 42 State Affairs and Government","Chapter 140.5 Renewable Ready Program"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE42/42-140.5/42-140.5-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:00:13Z","sha256":"34f71ad322911d847f189a073ac947f11d80108f68867fd5919f14cb8acc1126","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-140.5-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-140.5-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
