Laws § 42-167.2-3","heading":"Duties and responsibilities.","body":"The council’s responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:\n(1) Reducing barriers to the development of housing and streamlining the process to facilitate housing production;\n(2) Aligning state policies and programs to address the short- and long-term housing needs of all Rhode Islanders, and ensuring that actions taken support the state housing plan’s goals;\n(3) Addressing housing preservation efforts by identifying and implementing strategies to maintain and rehabilitate existing housing stock, particularly affordable housing;\n(4) Collaborating on initiatives related to healthy homes, ensuring that housing production and preservation efforts contribute to safe and healthy living environments;\n(5) Projecting future housing needs within the state, with a particular focus on identifying and prioritizing the types of housing required to meet the needs of priority populations, including but not limited to low-income families, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities;\n(6) Strategizing on how to support economic development, job creation, and community development through housing opportunities; and\n(7) Identifying opportunities to promote homeownership, particularly for first-generation homebuyers.","path":["Title 42 State Affairs and Government","CHAPTER 167.2 Interagency Council on Housing Production and Preservation"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE42/42-167.2/42-167.2-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:00:15Z","sha256":"bc44c2302fa558ad3c76773a69130c930146e00125fd49c65d098dc93e1500db","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-167.2-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-167.2-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
