Laws § 42-61.1-9","heading":"Exemptions.","body":"The provisions of §§ 42-61.1-3 — 42-61.1-7 shall not apply to the sale or purchase, or solicitation or representation in connection therewith, of goods from a catalog or of books, recordings, videocassettes, periodicals, and similar goods through a membership group or club which is regulated by the federal trade commission trade regulation rule concerning the use of negative option plans by sellers in commerce or through a contractual plan or arrangement such as a continuity plan, subscription arrangement, or series arrangement under which the seller periodically ships goods to a consumer who has consented in advance to receive those goods and the recipient of those goods is given the opportunity, after examination of the goods, to receive a full refund of charges for the goods, or unused portions of the goods, upon return of the goods, or unused portion of the goods, undamaged.","path":["Title 42 State Affairs and Government","Chapter 61.1 Prizes and Gift Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE42/42-61.1/42-61.1-9.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:59:55Z","sha256":"76a972a45bb720b14230178a8af35507d7562c4bc75927cd60f5f22d9c032c6e","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-61.1-8","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-42-61.2-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
