Laws § 45-25-4","heading":"Petition for establishment of authority — Notice of hearing.","body":"Any twenty-five (25) residents of a city may file a petition with the city clerk stating that there is a need for an authority to function in the city. Upon the filing of the petition, the city clerk shall give notice of the time, place, and purposes of a public hearing at which the council will determine the need for an authority in the city. The notice shall be given at the city’s expense by publishing a notice, at least ten (10) days preceding the day on which the hearing is to be held, in a newspaper having a general circulation in the city or, if there is no newspaper, by posting a notice in at least three (3) public places within the city, at least ten (10) days preceding the day on which the hearing is to be held.","path":["Title 45 Towns and Cities","Chapter 25 City Housing Authorities"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE45/45-25/45-25-4.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:00:50Z","sha256":"fb72e8091c3c9dc872459fe3e5f2689e267c3d453de62f2c82bcf38fc3b2c236","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-45-25-3","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-45-25-5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
