Laws § 5-25-14","heading":"Grounds for denial, revocation, or suspension of license.","body":"The division has the power to deny, revoke, or suspend any license issued under this chapter or otherwise discipline a licensee upon proof of the following:\n(1) Conviction of a felony; and conviction of a crime arising out of the practice of veterinary medicine;\n(2) Addiction to narcotics, habitual drunkenness, or rendering professional services to a patient while the veterinarian is intoxicated or incapacitated by the use of drugs;\n(3) Knowingly placing the health of a client at serious risk without maintaining proper precautions;\n(4) Fraud or misrepresentation in any phase of procuring or renewing a license;\n(5) Unprofessional conduct, which includes the matters set forth in this section or other matters as further defined in regulations of the division;\n(6) Advertising designed to mislead the public;\n(7) Representing certain procedures are performed with greater authority or expertise;\n(8) Fraud or misrepresentation of treatment procedures or statements regarding the ability to treat;\n(9) Fee splitting or kickbacks of any kind, except where services are provided jointly;\n(10) Failure to maintain acceptable sanitation standards;\n(11) Malpractice, gross negligence, or wanton disregard of accepted professional standards;\n(12) Adjudication of mental incompetence;\n(13) Lack of fitness to practice by reason of mental or physical impairment or otherwise; or\n(14) Any other grounds to deny, revoke, or suspend a license as provided for in the rules and regulations.","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 25 Veterinary Practice"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-25/5-25-14.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T14:42:29Z","sha256":"4374f9675570e4eddfda740e06ece58e8164b1f7a0fb7f857fdbb53fad384701","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-25-13","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-25-15"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
