Laws § 5-37-4","heading":"Refusal of licensure.","body":"(a) The director at the direction of the board shall, after notice and hearing, in accordance with the procedures established in §§ 5-37-5.2 — 5-37-6.2, refuse to grant the original license provided for in this chapter to any physician and/or applicant:\n(1) Who is not of good moral character;\n(2) Who does not meet the requirements for licensure prescribed in this chapter, regulations established by the board, and/or regulations promulgated by the director;\n(3) Who has violated any laws affecting the ability of any physician and/or applicant to practice medicine; or\n(4) Who has been found guilty in another state of conduct that, if committed in Rhode Island, would constitute unprofessional conduct as defined in § 5-37-5.1 and regulations adopted under that section.\n(b) The director shall serve a copy of his or her decision or ruling upon any person whose original certificate has been refused.","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 37 Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-37/5-37-4.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:12:14Z","sha256":"720fa420b1261a7f8799e7d5be5f7d232f664d95cbfec38c04995f238d32528f","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-37-3","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-37-5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
