Laws § 5-37-6.3","heading":"Sanctions.","body":"If the accused is found guilty of unprofessional conduct as described in § 5-37-6.2, the director, at the direction of the board, shall impose one or more of the following conditions:\n(1) Administer a reprimand;\n(2) Suspend or limit or restrict his or her license or limited registration to practice medicine;\n(3) Require him or her to serve a period of probation subject to certain conditions and requirements including, where appropriate, sanctions or restitution;\n(4) Revoke indefinitely his or her license or limited registration to practice medicine;\n(5) Require him or her to submit to the care, counseling, or treatment of a physician or program acceptable to the board;\n(6) Require him or her to participate in a program of continuing medical education in the area or areas in which he or she has been judged deficient;\n(7) Require him or her to practice under the direction of a physician in a public institution, public or private healthcare program, or private practice for a period of time specified by the board;\n(8) Assess against the physician the administrative costs of the proceedings instituted against the physician under this chapter; provided, that this assessment does not exceed thirty thousand dollars ($30,000);\n(9) Any other conditions or restrictions deemed appropriate under the circumstances.","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 37 Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-37/5-37-6.3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:12:59Z","sha256":"600f11e0e6885eab41a37320f463fdca3c0b7d67be040e1b6c0d5a8a3db4cc91","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-37-6.2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-37-7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
