Laws § 5-38.3-8","heading":"Notices required to be displayed.","body":"(a) Any person operating a motor vehicle repair shop and/or motor vehicle body and frame repair shop shall display in a conspicuous place in the shop a sign in boldfaced type in letters at least two (2) inches high reading substantially as follows:\n(a) “PURSUANT TO RHODE ISLAND INSURANCE LAW, AN INSURANCE COMPANY MAY NOT REQUIRE THAT REPAIRS BE MADE TO A MOTOR VEHICLE BY A PARTICULAR PERSON OR REPAIR SHOP.”\n(b) The failure to display a sign as required by this section shall be deemed to be an unfair sales practice pursuant to the provisions of chapter 13 of title 6, “Unfair Sales Practices,” and a deceptive trade practice pursuant to the provisions of chapter 13.1 of title 6, “Deceptive Trade Practices.”","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 38.3 Motor Vehicle Repair Shop Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-38.3/5-38.3-8.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:27:39Z","sha256":"b48fc2c8454b342516b08c4bfb04e348c1916f84168c114a8cdb4028d9f1d2c7","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-38.3-7","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-38.4-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
