Laws § 5-39.2-5","heading":"Issuance of a multistate license.","body":"(a) Upon receipt of an application for multistate license, the home state licensing authority shall determine the applicant’s eligibility for a multistate license in accordance with § 5-39.2-4.\n(b) If such applicant is eligible pursuant to § 5-39.2-4, the home state licensing authority shall issue a multistate license that authorizes the applicant or regulated social worker to practice in all member states under a multistate authorization to practice.\n(c) Upon issuance of a multistate license, the home state licensing authority shall designate whether the regulated social worker holds a multistate license in the bachelor’s, master’s, or clinical category of social work.\n(d) A multistate license issued by a home state to a resident in that state shall be recognized by all compact member states as authorizing social work practice under a multistate authorization to practice corresponding to each category of licensure regulated in each member state.","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 39.2 Social Work Licensure Compact"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-39.2/5-39.2-5.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:31:54Z","sha256":"d47b5838496aaec0fd90d188241a71e990a1303f9416aa905105ffeb4f1a5cc2","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-39.2-4","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-39.2-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
