Laws § 5-5.1-3","heading":"Powers and duties of the attorney general.","body":"The attorney general, or his or her designee, shall have general responsibility and authority for the implementation of this chapter, as subsequently provided, including, without limiting the responsibility and authority:\n(1) To process all applications for any license provided under this chapter;\n(2) To investigate the qualifications of each applicant before any license is issued pursuant to the provisions of this chapter and to obtain a criminal background check on any applicants from the division of criminal identification within the department of the attorney general;\n(3) To hear and decide all license applications, which includes the power to grant or deny the application and revoke or suspend the license;\n(4) To promulgate any rules and regulations that in his or her judgment are necessary to fulfill the policies of this chapter;\n(5) To investigate violations of this chapter and regulations promulgated under this chapter; and\n(6) To collect all license and registration fees imposed by law and forward the fees immediately to the general treasurer.","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 5.1 Private Security Guard Businesses"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-5.1/5-5.1-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T14:18:11Z","sha256":"ec8e75ea9945c4d10fa528cf261c0677dbed662630b5a777f08532229b81e39d","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-5.1-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-5.1-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
