Laws § 5-54-24","heading":"Requirements relating to professional conduct.","body":"The board shall receive and maintain a confidential file which shall be available to the board to precipitate or aid in their investigations. The information shall also be available to licensed healthcare facilities including health-maintenance organizations in connection with the granting of staff privileges and to the individual physician assistants themselves. The file shall contain the following information:\n(1) Cases of malpractice suits against physician assistants as reported to the board by insurers and self-insurers;\n(2) Cases of malpractice suits that result in allegations being dropped, a dismissal, a settlement, or court judgment or arbitration award adverse to the physician assistant;\n(3) Reports by any hospital or state or local professional medical association/society of disciplinary action taken against any physician assistant. This should also include any resignation of a physician assistant if related to unprofessional conduct as defined in law or any withdrawal of an application for hospital privileges relating to unprofessional conduct;\n(4) Reports by state and federal courts of physician assistants found guilty of a felony;\n(5) Reports by professional review organizations and third-party health insurers of sanctions imposed on a physician assistant;\n(6) The file may contain any other data that the board by reasonable rule or regulation deems appropriate.","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 54 Physician Assistants"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-54/5-54-24.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:58:54Z","sha256":"0ddb952377608c782565c47123eff2d289eaeded551fabde0a8d257ce17c59d7","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-54-23","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-54-25"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
