Laws § 5-74.1-14","heading":"Prohibited conduct.","body":"(a) An athlete agent, with the intent to induce a student athlete to enter into an agency contract, may not:\n(1) Give any materially false or misleading information or make a materially false promise or representation;\n(2) Furnish anything of value to a student athlete before the student athlete enters into the agency contract; or\n(3) Furnish anything of value to any individual other than the student athlete or another registered athlete agent.\n(b) An athlete agent may not intentionally:\n(1) Initiate contact with a student athlete unless registered under this chapter;\n(2) Refuse or fail to retain or permit inspection of the records required to be retained by § 5-74.1-13;\n(3) Fail to register when required by § 5-74.1-4;\n(4) Provide materially false or misleading information in an application for registration or renewal of registration;\n(5) Predate or postdate an agency contract; or\n(6) Fail to notify a student athlete before the student athlete signs or otherwise authenticates an agency contract for a particular sport that the signing or authentication may make the student athlete ineligible to participate as a student athlete in that sport.","path":["Title 5 Businesses and Professions","Chapter 74.1 Uniform Athlete Agents Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE5/5-74.1/5-74.1-14.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T16:35:29Z","sha256":"be092720f8dac615584d7cf0bba6244b7bb6ea3eb59e9375f18da5e3f25be52d","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-74.1-13","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-5-74.1-14.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
