Laws § 6A-2-326","heading":"Sale on approval and sale or return — Rights of creditors.","body":"(1) Unless otherwise agreed, if delivered goods may be returned by the buyer even though they conform to the contract, the transaction is:\n(a) a “sale on approval” if the goods are delivered primarily for use; and\n(b) a “sale or return” if the goods are delivered primarily for resale.\n(2) Goods held on approval are not subject to the claims of the buyer’s creditors until acceptance; goods held on sale or return are subject to such claims while in the buyer’s possession.\n(3) Any “or return” term of a contract for sale is to be treated as a separate contract for sale within the statute of frauds section of this chapter (§ 6A-2-201) and as contradicting the sale aspect of the contract within the provisions of this chapter on parol or extrinsic evidence (§ 6A-2-202).","path":["Title 6A Uniform Commercial Code","Chapter 2 Sales","Part 3 General Obligation and Construction of Contract"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE6A/6A-2/6A-3/6A-2-326.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:46:09Z","sha256":"bb0d783492a45deef0bc6fd65f92a4b44c3e9821e914b7459e08cafef1a9edb6","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-6a-2-325","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-6a-2-327"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
