Laws § 6A-2.1-104","heading":"Leases subject to other law.","body":"(1) A lease, although subject to this chapter, is also subject to any applicable:\n(a) Certificate of title statute of this state, including, without limitation, the Motor Vehicle Certificate of Title Act, § 31-3.1-1, et seq., and the Uniform Boat Title Act, § 46-22.1-1, et seq.;\n(b) Certificate of title statute of another jurisdiction (§ 6A-2.1-105); or\n(c) Consumer protection statute of this state, including the Rhode Island Rental Purchase Agreement Act, § 6-44-1, et seq., or final consumer protection decision of a court of this state existing on the effective date of this chapter.\n(2) In case of conflict between this chapter, other than §§ 6A-2.1-105, 6A-2.1-304(3), and 6A-2.1-305(3), and a statute or decision referred to in subsection (1), the statute or decision controls.\n(3) Failure to comply with an applicable law has only the effect specified therein.","path":["Title 6A Uniform Commercial Code","Chapter 2.1 Leases","Part 1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE6A/6A-2.1/6A-1/6A-2.1-104.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T17:52:09Z","sha256":"9ee1e2895ceb395eadd4bf2a1d72f7203c5d8d61e911a645a23013c4e5001a15","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-6a-2.1-103","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-6a-2.1-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
