Laws § 9-35-6","heading":"Notice of registration.","body":"(a) A person that registers a Canadian judgment under § 9-35-4 shall cause notice of registration to be served on the person against whom the judgment has been registered.\n(b) Notice under this section must be served in the same manner that a summons and complaint must be served in an action seeking recognition under § 9-34-6 of a foreign-country money judgment.\n(c) Notice under this section must include:\n(1) The date of registration and court in which the judgment was registered;\n(2) The civil action number assigned to the registration;\n(3) The name and address of:\n(i) The person registering the judgment; and\n(ii) The person’s attorney, if any;\n(4) A copy of the registration, including the documents required under § 9-35-4(b); and\n(5) A statement that:\n(i) The person against whom the judgment has been registered, not later than thirty (30) days after the date of service of notice, may petition the court to vacate the registration; and\n(ii) The court for cause may provide for a shorter or longer time.\n(d) Proof of service of notice under this section must be filed with the clerk of the court.","path":["Title 9 Courts and Civil Procedure — Procedure Generally","Chapter 35 Uniform Registration of Canadian Money Judgments Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE9/9-35/9-35-6.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:04Z","sha256":"423442ed5c92ca5e9434cc6f1571b1ff7dfb30e1172a76453d139f6232a7d688","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-9-35-5","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-9-35-7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
