Code Ann. § 1-1-1565","heading":"Article V convention advisory committee; membership; chair; advisory opinions; powers","body":"(A) The advisory committee consists of the following members:\n(1) two state senators, one a member of the majority political party in the Senate and one a member of the largest minority political party in the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate;\n(2) two state representatives, one a member of the majority political party in the House and one a member of the largest minority political party in the House appointed by the Speaker of the House; and\n(3) a member of the legislature nominated by joint action of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives and approved by the majority of those voting in each chamber.\n(B) The advisory committee shall select one of its members as chair.\n(C) A commissioner may request that the advisory committee advise him as to whether a prospective action by the commissioner would violate the commissioning resolution or any subsequent instructions.\n(D) The advisory committee:\n(1) shall communicate to the commissioner requesting such advice a determination within twenty-four hours of receiving the request;\n(2) may communicate such determination by any appropriate medium;\n(3) shall have authority to hire staff and develop appropriate procedures and mechanisms for monitoring the convention, its committees, and subcommittees; and\n(4) may meet virtually to take any necessary actions.","path":["Title 1 - ADMINISTRATION OF THE GOVERNMENT","CHAPTER 1 General Provisions","ARTICLE 23 Calls for Constitutional Amending Convention"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t01c001.php","current_through":"2026 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-10-25T02:48:10Z","sha256":"b551845597ddfe72b2bdc65163f547871f17fd404d9b6110aa6020bf19e9c564","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-1-1-1560","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-1-1-1570"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
