Code Ann. § 16-23-530","heading":"Firearms; possession by or sale to unlawful alien; penalties.","body":"(A) It is unlawful for an alien unlawfully present in the United States to possess, purchase, offer to purchase, sell, lease, rent, barter, exchange, or transport into this State a firearm.\n(B) It is unlawful for a person to knowingly sell, offer to sell, deliver, lease, rent, barter, exchange, or transport for sale into this State a firearm to a person knowing that such person is not lawfully present in the United States.\n(C) A person violating the provisions of subsection (A) of this section is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than ten thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.\n(D) A person violating the provisions of subsection (B) of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than two thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.","path":["Title 16 - CRIMES AND OFFENSES","CHAPTER 23 Offenses Involving Weapons","ARTICLE 5 Miscellaneous Offenses"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t16c023.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T06:45:09Z","sha256":"f64ed00e39cba455cc1c48cb855b0945958877d2aa544844192ef5f9f0cc3cef","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-16-23-520","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-16-23-710"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
