Code Ann. § 17-15-270","heading":"Additional offense for persons violating bond; violent crimes.","body":"(A) It is unlawful for a person to commit a violent crime while under a bond order or other pretrial release order for a previous violent crime. If the person is convicted of the subsequent violent crime, and is thereafter convicted of a violation of this section, the person is guilty of a felony and must be imprisoned not more than five years. The sentence may be imposed concurrently or consecutively to the punishment for the principal offense.\n(B) For purposes of this section:\n(1) a violent crime is defined as those contained in Section 16-1-60;\n(2) a subsequent violent crime is one that occurs at a later date and time than the offense that resulted in the imposition of the bond order or other pretrial release order.","path":["Title 17 - CRIMINAL PROCEDURES","CHAPTER 15 Bail and Recognizances"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t17c015.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T06:46:04Z","sha256":"4cc757d32a49f86eb8a2c30e021a95a63d08ada405beb7c78a9c0a2426fc44c5","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-17-15-260","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-17-15-500"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
