Code Ann. § 23-9-195","heading":"Community fireworks display license.","body":"The sponsor of a community fireworks display using consumer fireworks may petition the State Fire Marshal, Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation for a license to hold the display. The license must be granted if:\n(1) the county in which the event is to be held has a population of less than thirty thousand;\n(2) the governing body of the unincorporated county or the municipality in which the event is to be held approves the display through an ordinance or resolution;\n(3) the sponsor is a volunteer nonremunerated individual, group of individuals, or a community organization;\n(4) the sponsor can document the presence of police and fire rescue at the event;\n(5) the sponsor can provide proof of insurance for the event; and\n(6) the sponsor can demonstrate experience in hosting similar events, using similar nonremunerated volunteers without incident.\nThe State Fire Marshal, Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, may charge and retain a fee for the petition equal to the cost of the application fee of other similar filings.","path":["Title 23 - LAW ENFORCEMENT AND PUBLIC SAFETY","CHAPTER 9 State Fire Marshal","ARTICLE 1 State Fire Marshal"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t23c009.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T06:50:04Z","sha256":"72e5c4a840ccb01f425b4cf88003db300a15d1ee6d1d34e1e5a18aabe9549486","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-23-9-190","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-23-9-197"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
