Code Ann. § 25-9-570","heading":"Termination of powers and duties granted to special law enforcement officer; penalty.","body":"(A) The powers and duties granted to a special law enforcement officer pursuant to this article shall terminate immediately upon:\n(1) the cancellation of the state of emergency or disaster declaration; or\n(2) notice from either the Chief of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, or his designee, that a special law enforcement officer's powers and duties in this State have been terminated.\n(B) A person who knowingly exercises or knowingly attempts to exercise the powers of a special law enforcement officer after his powers and duties have been terminated pursuant to subsection (A) is guilty of a misdemeanor pursuant to Section 16-17-720.","path":["Title 25 - MILITARY, CIVIL DEFENSE AND VETERANS AFFAIRS","CHAPTER 9 Emergency Measures","ARTICLE 6 South Carolina Emergency Management Law Enforcement Act"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t25c009.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T06:53:54Z","sha256":"306acd00047c418728da6f3990b56e09debe7fa46898dc91df5082a9308116c7","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-25-9-560","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-25-9-580"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
