Code Ann. § 27-30-140","heading":"Annual budget increases; notice requirements.","body":"(1) Before a homeowners association may take action to increase an annual budget in any single year, the homeowners association must provide notice to homeowners at least forty-eight hours in advance of the meeting in which a decision to raise the annual budget is made. Notice of the meeting may be through posting notice:\n(a) in a conspicuous place in a common area in the community;\n(b) on an Internet website maintained by the homeowners association;\n(c) by electronic mail; or\n(d) through methods provided in the association's bylaws that ensure actual notice.\n(2) The provisions of this section do not apply to a homeowners association that is incorporated under the South Carolina Nonprofit Corporation Act found in Chapter 31, Title 33.","path":["Title 27 - PROPERTY AND CONVEYANCES","CHAPTER 30 Homeowners Associations","ARTICLE 1 South Carolina Homeowners Association Act"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t27c030.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T06:56:39Z","sha256":"699a9e7fcb6d48b5cbc802e774a714c6bb5c4cddf7088a2e733302143cba5697","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-27-30-130","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-27-30-150"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
