Code Ann. § 31-15-320","heading":"Repairing, closing, or demolishing unfit dwellings.","body":"Whenever the governing body of any county of this State finds that there exist in the county dwellings which are unfit for human habitation due to (a) dilapidation, (b) defects increasing the hazards of fire, accidents or other calamities, (c) lack of ventilation, light or sanitary facilities or (d) other conditions rendering such dwellings unsafe or insanitary, dangerous or detrimental to the health, safety or morals or otherwise inimical to the welfare of the residents of the county, such county may, upon the approval of a majority of the resident members of the county legislative delegation which the members represent, exercise its police powers to repair, close or demolish any such dwelling.","path":["Title 31 - HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT","CHAPTER 15 Dwellings Unfit for Human Habitation","ARTICLE 3 In Counties"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t31c015.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:00:49Z","sha256":"ad13c5ee80eaa85fbf15cd3bd71191ce4e821c09494d6b59a0595a8ef2e1215f","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-31-15-310","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-31-15-330"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
