Code Ann. § 31-21-60","heading":"Discrimination in relation to residential real estate-related transactions.","body":"(A) It is unlawful for any person or other entity whose business includes engaging in residential real estate-related transactions to discriminate against any person in making available such a transaction, or in the terms or conditions of the transaction, because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.\n(B) As used in this section, \"residential real estate-related transaction\" means any of the following:\n(1) the making or purchasing of loans or providing other financial assistance:\n(a) for purchasing, constructing, improving, repairing, or maintaining a dwelling; or\n(b) secured by residential real estate;\n(2) the selling, brokering, or appraising of residential real property.\n(C) Nothing in this chapter prohibits a person engaged in the business of furnishing appraisals of real property to take into consideration factors other than race, color, religion, national origin, sex, handicap, or familial status.","path":["Title 31 - HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT","CHAPTER 21 Fair Housing Law"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t31c021.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:01:09Z","sha256":"a0fbf995d48df6d39cb2628fa46ffcff65e629ed0342296eb3b2b9dc81b37204","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-31-21-50","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-31-21-70"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
