Code Ann. § 37-2-703","heading":"Renegotiation; extension of agreement.","body":"(a) A renegotiation occurs when an existing consumer rental-purchase agreement is satisfied and replaced by a new consumer rental-purchase agreement undertaken by the same lessor and lessee. A renegotiation is a new lease requiring new disclosures. However, the following events are not treated as renegotiations:\n(1) the addition or return of property in a multiple-item agreement or the substitution of the leased property, if in either case the average payment allocable to a payment period is not changed by more than twenty-five percent;\n(2) a deferral or extension of one or more periodic payments, or portions of a periodic payment;\n(3) a reduction in charges in the agreement;\n(4) a lease or agreement involved in a court proceeding;\n(b) No disclosures are required for any extension of a consumer rental-purchase agreement.","path":["Title 37 - CONSUMER PROTECTION CODE","CHAPTER 2 Credit Sales","Part 7 Consumer Rental-Purchase Agreements"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t37c002.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:09:14Z","sha256":"b39cb08a87b0fa7580fc90fec67390dd20a76e47f9d27cb214aa8402e1f557a6","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-37-2-702","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-37-2-704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
