Code Ann. § 38-43-240","heading":"Other offenses by producers.","body":"(A) It is unlawful for a producer, collector, or other person to:\n(1) undertake or pretend to represent an insurer licensed to do business in this State, or to collect or do business for the insurer without the authority of the insurer;\n(2) secure cash advances by false statements; or\n(3) fail to turn over or satisfactorily account for all collections of the insurer when required.\n(B) A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined in the discretion of the court or imprisoned not more than two years.","path":["Title 38 - INSURANCE","CHAPTER 43 Insurance Producers and Agencies","ARTICLE 1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://www.scstatehouse.gov/code/t38c043.php","current_through":"2025 Session of the General Assembly","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T07:13:09Z","sha256":"e09e6cef6245b9485c8c1f8696862a926ed4f453664d098489d5f7e45d5e98f9","source_id":"us-sc","stale":false,"prev":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-38-43-230","next":"us-sc/s.c.-code-ann.-38-43-245"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
